Bricked or broken OTT M8 box after using wrong power supply

Hi.
I was going to connect my old OTT M8 Box after not having used it for a long time, a couple of days ago, and i accidentaly connected the wrong power supply. In stead of using 5V i connected a 12V power supply. There was no smoke or anything like that and the blue light is lighting up, but the screen is black. One time it started up, but went black after a short while. Might there still be hope to salvage this unit, or shoult I just throw it away?

A well designed device should never let the current flow across the board without having its voltage constantly monitored by a protection circuit.
