so whenever i go to turn on my phone i just get to the motorola m logo and it stops there. my phone is also rooted. verizon is sending me a new one and i have to send back my old one. will the verizon people be able to know i rooted my phone.

Honestly, I doubt they'll even check. Most likely what will happen is once they get it back they will attempt to boot it and if they confirm the problem, they'll attempt to flash it back to stock. If they can't, then it's sent back to Motorola for credit. If they can, then they put it into inventory as a replacement phone to give to people who ... um ... accidentally brick theirs.

I have never heard of a warranty claim being denied because a phone was rooted.
