Help brightness issues and an unrelated question

My mez just in the last 3 days has decided to change its brightness settings all by itself. Yes I have the auto setting unchecked so its all manual and I have it set all the way down. But it will set itself to full just randomly. And I go look and the slider is still all the way down. If I tap the slider it figures out that it should be dim. Any input for this?

And my unrelated question was: it seems the 2.2 is out for mez so if I do that update will it replace everything on my phone? ie: as if I reflashed it to stock? Because I want to reflash it but if the update will do it I'd rather do that.

you might try using the auto brightness feature, i've found that it works very well, in all types of lighting situations.

I used to use that but prefer a constant level personally . Also not using it reportedly saves battery. Don't quote me on that though

I have the desk dock and every time I use it for my phone it resets the brightness level. It does not seem to matter what the phone is on before putting it into the dock. When I take it out it is almost always on manual and all the way dim.
