Once again, no means no. If the police tell you not to do something, don't do it. There was a ton of warning about using social media for coordinating public events.

Here is the problem, "water fight" could be code for anything, and given the latest round of problems in the UK, I can understand why they want to stop anything that is socially coordinating a potential illegal crime.

If we replace "water fight" with other words and look at the actual context that they where used in, we might get a different view on the events.

Coordinating any public events in the uk, given the current unrest is just out and out stupid.

I see your point. Maybe I didn't look into it that far. And, I'm not that familiar with their affairs. I saw in my mind, a kid wanting to have a water pistol fight, with he's friends.

But from an police point of view, replace water fight, with rape, murder, and burn everything, and you get a different point of view.

Lets do a googling of water fight +riot+ uk.

Well look at what we find here. Gangs of teenagers threatening people with knives, a teenage boy punching out a girl, and small amount of rioting, sounds more like a gang gathering, then a water fight.

I can start to understand, given the violent rioting of late, how the uk police will not look at this behavior fondly.

I guess that can be said about any social gathering and potential code words though. IMO, just because something possibly, maybe, perhaps, kind of, slightly, could turn out bad, it doesn't mean gathering should be banned. I get your point of "no means no", but I certainly do not agree with it.

I just asked a group of my friends if they wanted to get together for a BBQ this weekend. Replace BBQ with burn, pillage or loot and it could get really, really bad. So I should probably be arrested. This is a clear case of a complete over reaction by a nanny state.

LOL, I see that you guys are still having fun. Here is the problem. About 3 weeks ago, a gang activity had a "facebook water" cover to create a social problem. If you had used a "BBQ" 3 weeks before to burn, rape, and pillage. It could be a good idea for the police to watch you if you try to hold another "BBQ", especially given that the has been dozen of riots across the country.
