Broken phone screen hard reset

Ecofg

Lurker
Hello, so my dads phone broke without a single warning and he wasn't even touching it when the screen began to show stripes.

What do I want an answer to:
I need to know, is it possible to hard reset a phone without actually seeing or using the screen, i can attach the phone to my laptop with type c wire.

Oh and he is using sony Xperia XA1.

Thanks, Eco

First of all no device breaks for no reason without some type of manifestation happen that caused it, either it being internal or external.

If you press the power button, can you see anything different on the screen. If so, you might be able to power it off, and turn it on again. If the screen corruption is due to software that might solve it, if not, it's most likely a hardware problem like failing memory (RAM or ROM) causing the corruption. if the phone is on a contract, you should be able to exchange it. If you bought it outright andit's still under warranty, again you should be able to get another one in exchange.

If the phone has a recovery mode then boot into that and use the volume keys to factory reset. You will need pictures or a vid of the recovery mode though since you won't be able to see the options ;)
