Broken phone & unlimited data

My mother broke her Droid RAZR (cracked screen), and is still on a grandfathered-in unlimited data plan. Is there any way for her to get it replaced without losing the unlimited data? It's still functional, but has some serious issues (some of which pre-date the screen breaking). But would rather not have her give up her data plan if there's a choice.

If she's just replacing the handset, Then they shouldn't change her plan. Has VZW told you otherwise?

No, we haven't even gone to VZW yet. Just trying to make sure I have as much details before contacting someone capable of changing my plan. The phone is insured too, which I forgot to mention. Are they even carrying the original RAZR anymore (it's the first one, not a MAXX or HD anything)?

So if we get it replaced via insurance to whatever they'll give her, she should retain her unlimited data plan?

They would only replace it under insurance with a refurb anyway, but I would guess they'd have something comparable if the original RZR wasn't available. Even if she upgraded to a new phone, they should still keep her grandfathered in. I'm still using an unlimited Plan with AT&T and I'm on my 4th phone. :D

If you replace it with insurance, it should not affect your plan. If you buy a subsidized phone using your upgrade, that requires renewing your contact and you will lose unlimited. You cannot sign a new contract with unlimited data on vzw.
