Brought sd card over from BB - files/directory question

Brought over my 8GB Sandisk from my BB. Obviously over the past year it added a bunch of files and folders to the card for miscellaneous app data, music, pics, etc. Would I gain any speed on the device by reformatting the card and letting it start fresh in it's new home and re-syncing music and photos into fresh android directories? Does this even make sense?

Thanks in advance!

Possibly, but I wouldn't know if it really makes anything faster. Android doesn't really have a specific directory for media files. It will recognize music in any folder regardless of the folder name. Same with photos. You might just want to reformat just to make it more organized for yourself. ;)

These are the only folders its picky about:

/media/audio/ringtones
/media/audio/alarms
/media/audio/notifications
/DCIM/ (for camera images, obviously).

Been reading up on rooting and will take the plunge soon I'm sure, so I'll probably just wipe the whole card again at that time just to have a nice organized file system.
