Browser bookmarking folders

I was messing with a friends Iphone and asked if he could create bookmark folders, he tried and could. I have a lot of bookmarks and need to be able to catagorize. maybe even protect/lock/privatize them. Does anyone know if this is possible currently.

I have a moto droid

Its possible but it is not ideal, IMHO. My old Moto Q WinMo was better at this. I'd like to be able to bookmark a favorite and put it into an existing or new folder on the fly. Having a ton of uncategorized bookmarks looks bad whether in list or thumbnails view. I'm actually suprised more people have not complained about it. So much so, that I think there might be a way and I'm just missing it.

Here's what I do, for the time being. I create new folders on one of my home screens. This home screen is just bookmark folders. For example, I have a folder called work. I bookmark sites the normal way. I then go to this home screen and long press to add a shortcut to this bookmark. It appears on the home screen. I then drag and drop it into the folder called work. So instead of ever going to the actual "boomarks", I go to the folders on my home screen that have all my boomarks categorized. Its kind of a pain in the arse. I think someone will fix it, if they have'nt already.

I had the same feeling, so few people have commented on this that I figure it must just be me that can't figure it out.
The common solution has been the live folders (desktop folders). But this is a real pain IMO. I would be in the browser and have to exit to the desktop,open a folder, then find the page I want instead of opening the bookmarks page from the browser and opening the folder that I organized it in. Plus this also means that it takes forever organizing bookmarks in the desktop folders.
I know that the browser uses ML (if I recall corectly) and if it came to it i would be fine with hand editing the file with a few folders even if I could not edit the folders on the fly.
Between this and the fact that the iPhone remembers what pages were open on the last session, I think iPhones safari has this browser beat. Chrome is excellent at both of these features as well as the new bookmark sync. Google needs to port chrome into android.
Ill look into itsome more,but if anyone knows where the bookmark fie is stored I might be able to figure out how to edit it.
