bTunes Dead? Need Replacement

After trying out a few different music player apps, I settled on bTunes as the one I liked enough to buy. It lets me specify a non-top level folder for my music (so I don't get my ringtones mixed in with my music), it keeps a nice library for me to navigate (something I haven't really seen in any other player besides stock and Mixzing), and has lockscreen support.

Unfortunately, something has gone wrong with bTunes and it no longer displays my library. All my music seems to have disappeared from it and it's very frustrating. I emailed the developer about the issue, but there are comments on the app about the developer dropping the app. I only spent a $1.50 on it, so it's not a big deal, but now I don't know where to go for my music needs.

Mixzing is alright, but $7 seems steep when I paid $1.50 for bTunes, which had similar features. Are there any alternatives that I haven't tried yet? Cubed, DoubleTwist, Meridian, and possibly a few others that I've tried just don't do what I want them to.

I wondered what had happened as my library keeps disappearing too. I uninstalled and re-installed loads of times but never worked again.

Ive been using Mortplayer and Meridian instead. Both will let you specify the folder you want to read your music in like btunes did.
 
Its bTunes really abandoned? Last version is April and last post on developers facebook page is from around then too.
 
Is the free version of Mixzing not available any longer? Sure it has ads, but I don't notice them. I'm listening, not looking.

Meridian seems alright, but Mortplayer seems cumbersome for how much music I have on my device.

Yeah, I have the free version, but lockscreen support was something I really liked about bTunes. Mixzing is probably my second favorite after bTunes, but I can't justify $7 just for lockscreen support (No ads and tag editor are things I could really care less about). I'll probably be using the free version of Mixzing until I find an alternative (if that even happens).
 
Try Cubed. I hate the looks of its UI, but your mileage may vary.

Personally, my favorite is the Music Mod app, which is the stock music app but heavily, thoroughly modified to have great-looking widgets of various sizes, gesture controls, and more. Of course, you'd have to be rooted.
 
My btunes was having the same kinda issues. What I did was reinstall, take all music off SD card.. and then manually move music it to the card. The problems seemed to start happening when I decided to use sync programs. Dunno if that helps, but mine has been fine ever since.

I was going to buy bTune but read a lot of complaints that the developer 'abandoned' the app...but I think for an app to not get an update for over a month is pretty shitty. Anyways, I'm using Mixzing, since it's pretty decent (even with the ads..which I don't notice since I have my music on suffle) and I like the widget. Don't know if you're up to this idea, but my workaround to not paying $7 (I can't justify spending that much for a music app) is installing 'Widget Locker'.It allows you to put various widgets on the lockscreen and you can interact with it and only costs $0.99. You need to seach for it on the Market...googling it doesn't seem to work. So I have the mixzing widget on it and some other setting widgets.


Someone recommeded this app in the 'Favorite App so far...' thread. I asked him some questions before I bought the app. So far, it doesn't seem to have much of an effect on the battery. Buggyness...happens 15% of the times when I'm interacting with the widgets in the lockscreen.

The widgets are anything you have on your phone at the moment (not that selective crap from flyscreen) and have almost all of their functionality. I haven't tested extensively yet, but I keep my flashlight widget (works perfectly), beautiful widgets large (weather check is fine, but clicking on alarm clock or calendar changes it back to normal lock screen and when you unlock you are at those apps), and music player (play/pause, next are fine, however playlist does the same as with beautiful widgets).

As far as how they show, widget locker actually moves the unlock/silent sliders down further so you have almost as much space as you would on a regular homescreen and removes the standard clock/calendar. It seems some interactivity functions of widgets will cause the scenario above and others will not. Adding widgets is just like the normal homescreen, a long press and the menu comes up. The lockscreen can also flip to landscape mode. There is an icon on the status bar showing that it is running and it appears so far to consume very little battery. There's also settings allow for quick unlocking with the pressing of just about any button. Any other questions I'll be happy to answer, but for $.99 it's a pretty good deal.

As far as buggy, occasionally it will show the regular lockscreen and then load itself up. There are a couple of other things I observed, but can't remember off hand. They weren't bad enough to make me want a refund.

If you have a rooted phone (like me) you can flash a music MOD on your phone. It's by Eliot Stocker and if you know anything about Cyanogen you should know that he includes this in his latest ROM's. I love this music player.. excellent widgets of every size and more. Take time to read the changelog too. The link to XDA is below:

Try opening the stock music player and letting all your music sync with that. Then open up bTunes. Your music should be there now.

Also, if you have a phone that has a lot of internal storage (like the Incredible), and have your music on that, bTunes can't recognize it
