Android Question

I wanted to start this little project for a while now... I have an old toredown droid incredible (the battery inflated and the power button doesn't work- I know it's repairable but I'd rather be doing this :)) and I was wondering what parts will fit with what. Ex, I have the lcd screen, camera, speakers, flash etc... and I want to buy a newer better electronics board to fit those parts to it or the other way around. Basicly I want to know what parts are interchangable in the smartphone universe and if this "little" project is feasable. Oh and I don't want any phone service on it... only internet.

Hi and welcome to Android Forums!

Well, we are Android enthusiasts here... not engineers. I don't mean to dissuade you from achieving your goal, but keep in mind, as you start this project, that each device has been engineered so that not only does everything fit inside the case, but it's all compatible with everything else in there and sometimes custom-made for that singular purpose.

Throwing different off-the-shelf components into a device MIGHT potentially work, but in my professional opinion (with over 30 years of electronics experience) you are trying to find a needle in a haystack: the odds of everything you install being 100% compatible and functional with everything else you install is rather remote.

Unless you're really, really good at it. I'm good but I'm not that good :p

Good luck and it's great to have you here :)

Thanks for the reply! :) The more time i spent reading different phone components and listings on ebay the more I realised i'm in over my head XD... I might just try to take advantage of the 8mp camera and lcd screen to make a mini camera, if anyone is interested i'll post back if it ended in success.
