Buy now or what for later?

Hey guys,

Thinking of getting a Nexus One being that it seems to be the best phone for the price right now, $260 on Amazon. All the other Androids that have similar specs seem to go for at least a $100 more if not $150.

I'm thinking of getting it this month but do you guys think the price will go down more by the end of the summer? Or being that it would be almost 2 years old by then it's production would be discontinued? I'm not sure whether the coming out of the Nexus 3 would precipitate an even larger price drop.....just thinking out loud. And if you have any other phones you suggest I look into please let me know, but my budget is $260 sadly :(

I don't believe the N1 is still in production, anything you find out there is just left over stock. Also it's tough for me to recommend the N1 anymore. The issue with the digitizer and the lack of internal space will come into play more and more as time goes on. What about a used Nexus S?

Be advised if you do go with the Nexus One that there are two versions. One works with T-Mobile's 3G bands and the other AT&T's. While either will work for calls on the other's network, if tou try and use the T-Mobile version with AT&T, you can only get data at 2G (edge) speeds.

I got my N1 about a month ago from Amazon. It's a good telephone. I only use wi-fi for internet. The build quality is excellent. I expect it to last for years. I'm confident it will be updated into the future. Haven't had a single problem with the phone or operating system. I bought it because the price was right($283). Inexpensive for a handheld this powerful.
It's "just worked" for me.
Hope this helps,
Harvey

if it helps i just got my n1 a couple months ago and absolutely love it! i get compliments everywhere and my phone does everything i could ever want it to do with no issues at all!

Thank you for the input guys, I think I will pull the trigger with the N1. For those who bought it unlocked, was the 2.3 Gingerbread update offered OTA or did you guys have to flash it with the update manually?

Try picking up a used one off craigslist (eBay prices are high).

I bought an excellent condition t-mobile Nexus One for $100.

Of course there are a few sratches (not the screen) - and it was just the phone and the charger - but for $100...

I'm considering picking up a Nexus One from eBay to replace my G1. I see them going on eBay for about $150-$200, which is about as much as I'm willing to spend on one. Hopefully I'll be able to find one in decent condition with AT&T 3G for whenever I decide to get a data plan. I may hold off another few weeks, however, and see if prices drop any further.
