Buy Upgrade and Sell it?

A little confusing lead in........

I came to VW and signed a two yr contract when the Storm 2 came out. Last summer. I bought the X outright and sold my S2. I couldn't be happier w the X.

I really don't foresee wanting another phone anytime soon. Also I live in the mountain and only have 3G 70% of the time so 4G isn't going to matter to me for a while. I received an offer from VW for an early upgrade for the holidays.
I was thinking about getting another X or an incredible and flip it on Ebay. I would be signing a new contract and "have to" keep my X for two yrs but it's still new to me. I wouldn't really have it any longer than anyone else that has one. Is there any reason not to make a couple hundred bucks? Am I missing something?

Seems like a plan. How far were you into your contract? I wish I got a holiday upgrade lol.

If you're planning on staying with VW for the next two years, then I don't think you have an issue. It would just suck if you have to cancel the contract in the near future and have to pay the cancelation fee.

No contract = freedom ;)

Well I "was" a yr into my contract so my upgrade date was next summer. I had to assume liability of my plans because they were in my wife's name and needed to be in mine for business purposes. They did not however do a very good job explaining that by becoming the primary line my new contract date would be extended by nearly 9 months for reasons I still do not understand. So my new date is in summer of 2012. That seems to me even more of a reason to do it because I would only be extending my contract period by like 5 months. They offered me the early upgrade before the assumption of liability. I called to make sure the offer stood and they said yes.

I think it's a no brainer, but just wanted some input. It's almost worth it just to roll with two phones but to be honest every phone I use pales in comparison to my X. I love it.

Yea go for it. The X is a phenomenal phone. My brother just got one and he's still relatively new to the android game, so he's always calling me over to help him out with his phone. The only thing I couldn't get used to is the fact that there's no trackpad or trackball. I didn't even realize how dependent I was on it until I used his X. Still an awesome phone nonetheless

I'm trackball dependent. I found a good use for it during the winter. I can scoll the page on the net with my gloves on!

Eh, I miss my trackball/optical pad from time to time using the Evo... but I can always get what I'm trying to get to after 3 times at most.
