Buying a Phone on Amazon.com

Amazon.com offers the Windows 7 phone for only $50 with a two year contract. In the Sprint store, it is sold for $200. My wife has a two year contract with Sprint and has the Samsung Epic (4G). I would like to go on a shared plan with her and apply my work discount (20%). Is this possible if I go through Amazon.com rather than a Sprint store? The Sprint store said that would put us on a shared plan and apply my discount. My pay $150 more for a phone when you don't have to?

I'm still open to getting an Epic or an Evo...it's just that I enjoy watching my Netflix subscription and Windows gives me that free of charge.

Edit: There is no 4G in Wisconsin and there hasn't been since my wife bought the Epic (over 7 months ago).

WP7 is a cool OS. Just as locked down as iOS though, but if that's not an issue for you then more power to you. The thing is, on Amazon.com, once you select that you want to add a line instead of starting a new individual service line, the price of the phone jumps up to $150. After that you'd just have to contact sprint to apply your discount.

Thanks. I would imagine there is no way to port your number with the $50 price either.

Nope. If you signed up for the individual account and got the phone for $50, then tried to switch your plan over to your family plan, then Amazon Wireless would charge you their Instant Discount Charge for violating their Terms. It'd be cheaper just to add a line with Amazon and get the $150 price. I don't know how it works in your state, but here in California if I were to go to a cell store and buy a phone, I'd pay the subsidized price plus tax, which is based on the full retail of the device. So say I pay $200 for a phone at sprint but the retail is $600, I'd be paying close to $250 total. The nice thing about Amazon for me, is since they don't have any offices in California I don't pay sales tax on the phone, so $150 is actually just $150, so in the end instead of saving $50 I'd be saving $100.
