Buying phone off contract, same return policy as subsidized phone?

If I were to buy a phone, say the LG G2, off contract, could I try it and return it within 14 days the same as when you upgrade at a subsidized price?

Basically I am looking at replacing my S3 and I'm down to the LG G2 or a Droid Maxx. I'm pretty sure I know what I'm getting with the Maxx based on previous Motorola phones, but the G2 also looks like a good choice. I just don't want to get the G2, find that it isn't the phone for me, but be stuck with it...

As long as you're not on a prepaid plan, then yes.

My vote is for the G2, FWIW.

From VZW.com:

Wireless Device/Accessory Return Policy

You may return or exchange wireless devices and accessories purchased from Verizon Wireless within 14 days of purchase. A restocking fee of $35 ($70 for netbooks and tablets) applies to any return or exchange of a wireless device (excluding Hawaii).

Ah, the dreaded restocking fee... Forgot about that. :D

The G2 wins on processor, screen, and camera. Maxx wins on proven radios, battery (although by not much), and closer to stock Android. It may come down to whether the price comes down one of them.
