Help Calendar events missing

Running latest Jelly Bean from Google.

My wife syncs four calendars on her Nexus. Three show up all the time, her main Google account regularly disappears altogether. The events are all there accessing the calendar via a browser, but nothing shows in the app on the tablet. Forcing the app to stop and clearing cache and data, then unsyncing and re-syncing that calendar bring the events back, but only for a day or so.

Is there a way to fix this?

For the main calendar to not appear is really strange. Is the tablet running on her Google account? In the calendar list is the default calendar at the top? Are any of the calendars shared? There has got to be something going on. I am cross eyed tired and that's all I got right now

Yes, she is running the tablet on her Google account and it is first on the list. The second is just US holidays. The last two are my calendars which she shares.
