Help Calendar question

My previous phone was an HTC EVO 4G LTE. With that phone I used the stock calendar, & so far I'm using the stock calendar on the LG G2. But my question is - with my old phone, as I was creating an appt on my calendar, right on the screen there was a button that said something like "check for conflicting appts" so I could easily see if I had that date & time available. I don't see anything similar in the stock calendar on this phone.

I get my hair cut every 5 weeks, & yesterday at the salon to make my next appt - I pulled up today's appt, changed the date & saved it, then went out to my calendar to look at that future date to see if there was anything else that time & date conflicted with. (Kind of cumbersome)

This is a pretty basic calendar function, is the "check for conflicts" or whatever just hidden & I haven't found it, or doesn't exist in the stock calendar on this phone?

Hmm good question. It's the only calendar app that came on the phone, & I'm on Verizon. I have it sync to my Google calendar but I have no idea who owns the app that came on the phone.

Also attached is a screenshot from my old phone's calendar, so you can see the big "check calendar" button; pushing it takes you to the next screenshot, where you can see if there's a conflict. Pushing "cancel" takes you back to the appt you're scheduling so you can easily change the parameters if you have a conflict.

**not sure why my screenshots rotated themselves...

Lg I believe owns that app.

Yes that is the LG app. I Personally use the google calendar app which you can get on the play store. I then disabled the LG app. I like it better.

Well, in any case, it doesn't seem to have the feature I asked about, so I guess if I really want it I need to look for alternatives. Thanks.

ETA: I just checked a few other calendar apps & so far, haven't found that feature in any of them?

did u try the google calender app?

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.calendar

This is what comes built in cyanogenmod and I absolutely love it.

I did take a brief look at it, when I was scheduling a new appt I didn't see any way to check my schedule for conflicts right from that screen, like my old HTC phone's stock calendar used to have. I actually downloaded & looked at 2 or 3 calendars last night & didn't find that functionality in any of them :(

I feel like HTC had me spoiled :p

This one shows on a daily, weekly, or monthly widget about items coming up for the day. So idk IMHO i love this one for what it is. Never tried the HTC. I heard great things from their phones.

Yeah the LG stock calendar has that widget too, which I use. It's just the functionality within modifying or scheduling a new appt that I really miss.

I think my old HTC is an awesome phone, I do like new phones & this LG is really nice but even after 2 yrs with it, I'd still be using my old phone if I hadn't finally given up on Sprint. There's very little that's really "better" about this phone, for me.

I use the free version of Cozi. When you're scheduling something, you're at that date, so you can easily see if you have anything else going on then, and everything for a given date is in order of the time. So if you want to schedule a haircut for 2:30 in then afternoon, and you have something across town at 2:15, you know you have a problem.

We actually use it to keep 3 households in sync - for instance, my great nephew has a couple of soccer practices coming up that I have to take him to. They're on the calendar for that day, so if I go to schedule something for that day, I know I have to be finished and at his house in time to get him to practice.

The app has other functions - contacts, shopping, a to-do list, etc., but we only use it for the calendar function and it's easy to spot potential conflicts. And there's plenty of space for the reason for the appointment and the location.

Cozi looks nice, but I already have apps for the other stuff it includes that I care about. I just want to be able to see, while I'm in the midst of scheduling or updating an appt, if there's a conflict. I guess HTC was ahead of it's time with their stock calendar & nobody else has caught up yet.

It really seems funny nobody else has this feature. I don't know about all of you guys, but I don't usually go out to the future date on my calendar when setting an appt, I just hit the + button and create the appt from the widget - which is where the functionality is super handy to look ahead & see if there's a conflict.
