Help Calendar reminder

When I enter an event in the calendar, I put in a reminder, usually for 24 hours before. The phone sounds an alarm to remind me at the correct time but then keeps sounding the alarm every hour until the event has taken place. Can't find how to get it to remind me just once when I want to be reminded and get rid of the every hour thing. Can anyone help?

I normally get 2 options, Snooze & Dismiss, don't you see Dismiss?

I know people have complained about the calendar being quite poor, (I rarely use it myself), but I've seen Jorte recommended as an alternative in the past, you might want to see if that's a little more to your liking?
