Calendars - Just some comments

over two decades ago, I needed a good internet calendar that would send me SMS text reminders to my simple little cellphone. SMS was just a brand new thing then, but I liked it for getting notices.

I tried several calendars, and at that time, there was only one "King of the Hill" that gave me everything I wanted.
I was already subscribed to the premium level of Yahoo email for a guaranteed renewal fee for life...

Their calendar gave me all the options I needed.....

but alas, something has crawled into their woodwork and the structure is not as reliable as it used to be.
Options to do things that I had enjoyed for 20+ years are now gone.

Alarms that had to be set up at the last minute, would sometimes not work.

gmail back then was a joke, and I can't recall if google even offered a calendar back then.

But, earlier this year, I finally got my problems with Google's Gmail straightened out, several tests began to give me a "warm fuzzy feel" that their service might now be as reliable as Yahoo's email service still is....
Yahoo let's me have an infinite number of pseudo throw away email addresses, so I will stay with them....

but for a Calendar? I have given up on Yahoo, and quit using it altogether.

Google's current calendar has all of the features that I need, and they seem to be rock solid.
at least the tests I have been running proved solid....

I set up alarms to go off within 2 hours, and go off they did...

no problems here for anyone to solve.... just a comment that I found a Calendar service that seems to work for me "every time"... and having it intertwined with the email account helps out a lot.

I tried every calendar app on Play Store, and all of them have failed miserably...
None of them will sync with Yahoo Calendar, and that led to the demise of Yahoo's calendar for me.

maybe now, I can go back and try out some Calendar Apps on my phone....

so, with all the above said, I am changing my tune....

What is your "Favorite All Time" calendar app?

John.

I am using a free one called "Up To" which I am able to sync with my google calendar. I picked this because I've been frustrated with syncing my calendar with my partners calendar and this one seems to do the trick. You'd think the Google calendar would easily sync both our calendars --- but for some reason fails. I don't know if it's an iphone v. Android problem or human error though I'm pretty sure it's the latter.

Thank you for this tip.

This one is working better than anything I have ever tried before.
I created my account with my Yahoo email address, but when I created a new TEST event, it gave me the option of "My Calendar" which we know only exists on the phone, or "gmail.com" calendar.... I chose that one...

then I opened my Google calendar on my PC browser and the event was already sync'd up and highlighted.

works like a champ, thank you and Kudos.

Now, I will be able to look at my calendar when I'm away from home to look for Conflicts when folks say "how about we get together on ............. "
