has anyone ever tried any of the free caller ID programs for Android? So you dont have to pay extra to your provider for it.

I'm pretty sure he means not paying for an APP. I haven't downloaded any but there was a thread about an app that used reverse lookup websites to identify the incoming caller. Only works if the caller's using a landline, but the feedback sounded pretty positive.

Also reading these threads, it sounds like a lot of people are still waiting for an app that makes the picture of the caller (if they're in your phonebook) bigger. Me too.

Ah, I see.
I think we have one available in Norway at least.
If someone you don't have in your phonebook calls, it will look up the number for you.

how long does it generally take? and what's the app called?

"Se hvem som ringer" from gule sider. norwegian numbers only of course. and it's free.
Depends on your connection at the time, but maybe 10 seconds. Not quite sure.
