Help Camera and GPS

As I said in my intro, there could be some dumb questions. So here we go!

I have recently purchased an Free Slll. Mounted a 65 gb Sandisk Ultra XC1.

I am very impressed with the quality of the photographs and videos that I have taken, even the one of my feet whilst walking through the streets of Malaga.

My question is this.
When reviewing the photographs and clicking on details, the GPS position is unknown and the Place is likewise.
If the software can't use the inbuilt GPS, what is the point?
I have, of course, checked that the GPS is turned on and working.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

Is GPS tagging turned on in the camera app? Open the camera, press the settings (looks like a gear), and check to see if GPS tag is on.
