Apps camera and orientation sensor

Is it possible to use camera and orientation sensor at the same time?

I try to write a program, but when I checked in debugging mode:
the camera thread and orientation sensor thread never show up together.

if I turn on the camera, the sensor goes off,
and if I turn off the camera, the sensor thread shows up again..

by the way, I use android 2.1..
