Camera focus

How do I get the camera to focus properly? It's not very good for close or detailed objects. Especially if I'm trying to get words to look right, it's a pain. Is there some kind of autofocus feature that would make it sharp and clear instead of fuzzy?

Unfortunately if your phone doesn't have auto focus or an apparatus settings, you my just have a poor quality camera on that device it's not too much you can do to fix that. But like @lvt asked. "What phone are you using" because it may have hidden features or tweaks in helping improve camera quality.

It's a Samsung S5. I think that's supposed to be a pretty good camera, though probably not Apple quality. I got it used for $80.

What is macro mode? How do I enable it? I'm sorry I don't know much about the subject, but I guess I'll learn, and thanks for all the help.

I don't have an S5 so this is only from what I've found online ... point the camera at something close and then double-tap the screen. You should see it focus on the close object.

You may need to turn off the selective focus as is suggested, here.

I've found limitations below about 4 inches.

There's a circle which I guess is supposed to be half light and half dark. I tapped that and it said 4x. I think it did make the picture larger but also blurrier. It was kind of hard to tell because it was dark (outdoor shot after sunset).
