Camera Lag When I Open It

This problem started a few days ago. I open up the stock camera app, and it takes about 6 seconds to start up. It opens, but it goes black and then the view finder kicks in. Right now I have the camera app open, but its fully black. All I see is the icons, but when I click on the icons (to either have flash on, or rotate camera or any other option) it doesn't do anything. Then I hit the back button and it returns to home screen, all the apps and widgets disappear for a couple seconds, then it reappears. Im running stock Kit Kat (MetroPCS). Everything else works fine, just the camera is acting up.

1st, have you done a Restart of the phone?
2nd, failing that to help, do a Clear Cache Partition
3rd, worst case, uninstall the Camera app and reinstall it. all of your pictures should stay put in the DCIM folder(s) (internal or external SDcard)
