Camera quality.

Am I the only one noticing that the camera is not a crisp and clear as old flagships? I taken some pictures on the Note7, the S7Edge, the Note 5 and the Note Edge and the Note 4 and Note Edge are noticeably better every time.i surely can't be the only one to notice. Every review I've seen so far claim its the best camera around and such, but it's plain as day that's not true.

Is it because of the MP drop? Is it because of the focus on low light? I used to be able to amaze people with my pictures and now they're always nothing special. [emoji17]

I don't own a Note 7, so can only comment from samples in reviews, but I personally can't say I see a huge difference between the Note 4 and Note 7 pictures in good light. The most obvious problem with the current camera to my eye is that the sharpening is too high: you see halos around high-contrast edges in many review photos when viewed at full resolution. I imagine that Samsung did that to make things look "crisp", but if it's producing artifacts then it's gone too far IMO.

The difference between 16 Mpix and 12 Mpix is less important than it sounds: it's only a 13% reduction in the linear resolution (number of pixels along each axis - the linear resolution increases as the square root of the number of pixels). Differences in processing (colour profiles, contrast, sharpening, noise reduction) will have a bigger effect than that on how you perceive the pictures, not to mention the lens. So whatever it is that looks different to you, I doubt the pixel count is the cause.

I think the N7 camera is very good. Perhaps you got a faulty one, and it needs exchanging.

For refernce and comparison here's two pics I quickly shot this morning out of the living room windows with both N7 and Oppo R7 Plus, which is also a flagship top-end device. Overcast morning.
