Help Camera settings for indoor low light pictures

Any suggestions on the best settings for indoor low light pics? I was at a party last night and I couldn't figure out what to set the camera on to take decent pictures. I think it has something to do with the ISO setting, but I don't know how to set that feature as it's not lit up to even adjust it. I am sure it has to be on a certain photo type to be able to adjust it just couldn't figure out which one.

Either use your flash or go to settings, iso and select 400 or 800. The higher the iso the more noise you will have in your pictures so go with the lowest possible. Also you can select low light from shooting mode.

Also just from party/indoor under scene mode in settings.

Yeah the party/indoor setting wasn't looking so great when I tried that mode. Thanks for the tips on the ISO numbers. I think if you have it any of the scene modes selected it doesn't allow you to adjust the ISO. I'll have to play around with the settings some more to see what works best.
