Can anyone comment on buying phones from Best Buy?

I am planning on getting the Droid on the 6th, but I will have to drive home from my apartment to pick it up (I live near my college about a hour away from home). I drive by Best Buy on my way home, and was thinking about picking up the phone on the way.

I am just curious if there are any benefits/disadvantages of buying from Best Buy opposed to buying from a Verizon store?

If I do end up getting it from Best Buy, I will probably head there tomorrow and pre-order.

While I cant comment specificly about BB/VZ, I did buy my Hero from BB on Sprint and it had its advantages. First, and the big reason, was they turned the MIR into an instant rebate. So rather than having to wait around for a check that may never show up, the hassle was removed completely. The other, and I doubt this will even apply in your case, was that they started selling 2 days early to RZ members with coupons.

Short of converting the MIR though, there isnt much in the way of advantages/disadvantages to buying from Best Buy over a VZ store.

i bought two blackberries from a local best buy and had no issues with them whatsoever and instant rebates are great. also if you are a reward zone member its nice getting all those points :D

How about returns? I hear about the 30 day grace period for returning a phone but don't know if that applies only to phones bought at VZW stores or Best Buy stores as well. If the 30 day window is through Best Buy as well, does that mean that my 2 year contract acquired when buying the phone is also dropped as well?

My example:

I am currently month to month through Verizon. I pick up the Droid this Friday at Best Buy and sign a new 2 year contract. I decide in a couple weeks the phone is not for me and I want to return it. What happens, what are the options?
