Root Can I Downgrade 2.3.3 --> 2.2 to allow Root Access Wifi Tether Again?

Hello, I have a Droid 2 Global here that we have recently upgraded from 2.2 that we purchased it with, to 2.3.3 OS Android. Well after we did this, and rooted, we were not able to use Wifi Tethering with it anymore.

I also have a Droid 3 I use that is Rooted, which I know has never been able to use Wifi Tethering with Root. So basically, I am wondering, if we downgrade the D2G back to OS 2.2, and then root, will I be able to use my Wifi Tether again? Or has Verizon put a stop to all of it, regardless of what OS, Phone, or Root?

Please let me know if you can help out. It would be greatly appreciated. If there is any missing information you may need, just let me know, and I will do my best to get that information posted up on here.

You could root Android 2.3 GB to some of the custom roms that would deliver excellent battery life. The GB Kernel is much better at voltages and putting apps to standby. You should of made a back of your old software but you could SBF. Please do some research as it is not that hard. If you cant find it and need more help, we will help you.
