Can I expect to stream video online with 3G?

I just got an HTC EVO and I ordered the MLB.tv subscription which now streams games online to Android phones. However, in my city we only have 3G. Can I expect the games to work? Or will it just lag all the time and be unwatchable? I'm new to having a phone like this so I don't know what to expect. Thanks for the help!

Really? because my YouTube videos buffer all the time and get errors. I also have a Free TV app and those videos lag terribly on 3G but play perfect with WiFi. I'm worried I paid $120 for nothing if it lags or buffers all the time because I'll only be in a 3G area at work. How do you know it will work just fine?

Do a speed test. Download the app Speed Test from speedtest.net. copy the results here. And be aware, sprint has been having horrible 3g speeds lately, there are tons of threads about it in the evo forum.

Ok, I'm back with my speed test results. I use speedtest.net:

Right now with 3G: 736kbps Download, 406 kbps upload

I have a feeling I'm screwed :(, but then again I don't know much about speeds

Thats about average for 3g speeds, and should be enough to stream videos. Personally I'm on sprint and the last few months I cant get above 100kbps.

It was like that for me too this week, anywhere from 100-1000 kbps. I sure hope its enough to stream the games live! Otherwise I basically wasted $120! Thanks for the help man, I appreciate it.

The worst part is that you have to pay for 4g service whether it is available in your city or not. 3G should be enough to stream video. I have been able to do so in the past.

This has been discussed many times before. The 10 dollar fee is for "premium data", not 4g.
