I like Ubuntu. It does everything great but 2 things. It's a PITA to get the HP 1300 laserjet to print in less than 1/2 hour and it doesn't do TWAIN.
I have an old Canon LidoScan. Apparently Canon and Linux are not buddy/buddy. But the scanner works on any other TWAIN supported program.
TWAIN stands for "Technology Without An Interesting Name" and I think it works on Apple stuff along with windows. You just plug in a USB scanner and Photoshop sees it. Why can't Linux support TWAIN?
I would really be annoyed if I have to replace the scanner. I don't WANT an all in one. The laserjet is used for most printing, and a Canon Pixma photo printer for photos. When this Pixma dies, I want the Canon 9000. I really hate all in ones.
I'm trying to print tutorials for a sewing project from Firefox. Either the print job just disappears or takes forever to print. Opera is even worse.
Things were working just fine in 10.10 until I messed up and had to download 11.04 to fix that problem. Now FF has changed stuff in about:config, and I can't find the command I used to fix the problem in 10.10.
The printer works just fine if I use notepad or a word processor.
If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.
Tried CUPS, doesn't work. Isn't even in the Software Center.
