Can I port phone # from other carrier onto T-Mobile prepaid?

So my wife has an ancient iPhone 3G with a nice big crack on the back (better than the front, though, right?) and I have an EVO 4G. Neither of us are on contract and I'm eyeing the new Nexus 4 for both of us and switch us from AT&T (her) and Sprint (me) to T-Mobile. The $30/mo 100 minute Talk "unlimited" data plan looks like a terrific fit for us (I used 37 minutes last month).

My question is: Can I go the prepaid route with T-Mobile and have our phone #'s ported over from our current carriers? If so can anyone outline the process?

Thank you in advance for any guidance.

Yes. If you are in the US, federal law requires all carriers to honor phone number porting.

As John Jason said, yes, you can transfer your current number. After activating your T-Mobile SIM online (you need to activate online to get the $30 100 min/5GB plan), just call T-Mobile and ask them to port your number. Just have your AT&T account info ready when you call, they will need some of that information in order to get the number transferred.
