In KitKat 4.4, can I create a folder to hold several photos made on different dates, for quick reference?

Yes. Each picture is a file. Using a file explorer you can move them to any folder you please. You can also make copies.

Thanks. I already have ES, but have not learned how to use it yet.
I think the PC feature I miss most in Android is Help files.

ES has a short users guide, under "Help" in the settings menu.
