Can I re-format my SD card as mobile storage

Ok, so I'm having a bit of an issue here with my phone. (It is a Motorola G5 plus running nougat) it has 64GB of internal storage and I recently added a 32GB micro SD card to expand that for pictures. But when I formatted it as internal storage, I thought it would simply read as 97GB of storage, but I guess that's not how it works. And of course I've moved precious game and app data, pictures and videos ect. to the card already. So now basically I have 32GB of storage and 64GB for updates for apps and OS and such (I've since researched this topic and NOW understand how it works). So what I want to do is make it mobile storage again without losing my data that's on the card, I tried looking this up and couldn't find much, I really need help, I can't lose my data and I can't sit here with 32GB of storage.

Thanks

You want the card as external storage, there should be an option in the 3-dot menu of Settings - Storage to convert it to External Storage...

After that is complete, in the camera app you can set the storage location for photos and videos to external storage (SD Card)

I saw that, but won't "format as portable" clear the data?

I wrote something then decided that the response didn't adequately pertain to the question. But I couldn't figure out how to delete what I had said so I threw in some dots and saved it. Was hoping it would get glossed over. My bad...

Lol it's okay, as far as I can tell, it's been answered already, is there a way I can lock this thread from further replies? (I'm new here, sorry)
