can i seperate my data plan from my phone plan in contract?

i am wanting to get a tablet, but i already have an original droid in contract. what i want to do is transfer my voice plan to an old dumbphone i have lying around and transfer the data plan to a new tablet without paying any early termination fees or paying for data twice and keep my unlimited data plan.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tablets are on Verizon's Mobile Broadband plans, not their smartphone data plans, and there isn't an unlimited option on Mobile Broadband.
