Can I trade in my phone with a new contract?

I'm not sure if I'm in the right section but I hope someone can help me. I got the first galaxy note on a two year contract in April of this year.. I would like to trade in my phone to get the note 2.. Is there anyway I can get the note 2 with my contract without paying the full price or adding a new line? I don't mind adding a line if I had someone else to give my phone to. Thanks for any help

You could always sell your original Note on Ebay or Amazon, and then apply that money to the full price of the Note 2. If you really want to get the new Note 2, I think that is the best way to get the discount on an existing contract.

If you add a line make sure to get a non smart phone to out the sim in. That way you don't get charged for data on the extra line.
