Root Can Nexus 5 boot from media stick via OTG?

I guess another way of asking:

Is it possible to reassign or swap SD positions on the N5? I guess its possible to do this with some devices, so apps and related data are stored in the onboard SD, and boot/system are on external microSD?

And for those who ask:

I'm just curious, and also because while I was repeatedly destroying radio settings trying to fix this thing, I noticed this phone isn't very easy to brick. Figured since I bought a developers device it would be fun to experiment a little.

You can boot from usb otg with multirom, there may be more direct ways to do it but that's a possibility at least. I would not recommend it for daily or frequent use

So it is possible. I didn't know about the multirom either, which sounds pretty cool.

I was looking into having this thing mounted as a mobile entertainment/nav device with all of its vital boot/ data on a stick, rendering it useless without the OTG dongle. I'm considering my N7 too, its just a tad too big for the vehicle I'm looking into

I have plenty of phones to play around with for the idea, the N5 is just such a perfect fit and I'm not sure if my other candidates will even support OTG I

I believe you still need a primary rom installed on the device for multirom to work. It requires a patched kernel to boot secondary roms, so I assume that means you'll need a rom on it.
