Help Can not call on GSM

Munir Ahmad

Lurker
Hi, I have a problem with my note 3 n9005. When i lock it for GSM in mobile network i can not make a call, it says network not registered. Please help me because sometimes i am not getting 3G signals and i am unable to receive or make a call.

Thanks...

Where did you buy the phone? It may be that for example, the phone came from a different country which uses different 2G bandwidths.

yes yes i is possible because it came from UK and i am using in UAE Dubai, but there must be some possibility to use 2g here

There are only 4 2G GSM bands worldwide (850, 900,1800,1900) and almost all phones support all of them - the Note series certainly do.

If you do a network scan whole in GSM only does it show your network? If so maybe speak to your carrier, in case it's a problem at their end or with your account or SIM.

yes and we have 900 and 1800 here, if i lock for gsm in my device i can see signals but when i make a call it says network not registered.i checked with operator no issue from there side, i can use 2g in other phone with same sim card

So it's something with the phone. Did you buy it new or second-hand?

It's not carrier-locked or it wouldn't work at all. Does it have any "3" branding (e.g. the splash screen when you power it up)? I've not heard of them doing something strange like this to their phones, but "from UK" and "doesn't work with 2G" makes me wonder - though if they did do anything I'd have expected them to remove the menu option rather than mess with the phone firmware to prevent it using 2G at all (much simpler and safer), so I think this is unlikely to be it.

I have no idea but even if i lock for GSM and search for network i can see operator but when i try to register it is not working.... if something with my software or any thing else.....

Open settings> more networks > mobile networks> network operators>a list appears>tap on select automatically..
You will be registered .

Thankyou.
Hope it works. :)
i tried this i can see signals but can not make call, if i do it manually i can see my operator but when i try to register its keep trying....

Mobile data has nothing at all to do with the ability to make calls, or to register on a network. Trust me, my default settings are 2G only, data off.

i more thing i will tell, i have reset my phone after that it asked me to update i did it, when it was done i lost my network at all, and i saw that my imei no is null, than i update flash modem "SM-N9005XXUBMI6_MODEM" after that imei came back and same thing came back as i could use 3G only....
