Help Can not delete images

My Nexus 4 was out of storage so I deleted all my images but I did not gain any space on the disc? Is there a trash that I have to empty before I gain the space?

No recycle bin or trash can. SD cards have a limited LOST.DIR but that doesn't apply to you.

Thank you for that! But I am still confused. I deleted 4 gb of pictures but still only has 500mb left on the sd-card. Any idea of where they can be?
