i broke my samsung galaxy s2 and the insurance company said i could get my contacts from my old phone back if i signed in to my gmail acount i made when i bought my first phone. but i cannot figure it out.
If your contacts were synced to Google, then simply log into the new phone with the same Gmail account as the old phone. Your apps and contacts should restore.
If you logged in to the new phone with a different Gmail address, it's still possible: go to Settings --> Accounts and add a Google account. Enter the address & password of your old phone's Gmail account and sync contacts.
If they were simply PHONE contacts and not synced, then they are gone. Hope this helps.
