Can rooting make my tablet icou10 detecct gsm dongles?

My andoid tablet is Icou10. It connects to Internet via SOME cdma dongles. Since the modem here is EXTERNAL, it turns out -I suppose- to be a matter of programmation not material to detect certain dongles. So my question is: can rooting my tablet (taking necessary drivers) renders it dectecting new dongles (particularly gsm based) ?
