Root Can/should I stop some processes to make my battery/performance better?

He ho! I accidently discovered this menu:

I feel like some things like album art grabber and Nils have no reason to be running any processes. Should I try to disable them or something?

Hi

To find what is draining your battery install Wakelock Detector and GSam battery monitor. It's not a good idea to randomly stop services. There is an app called Greenify which can really help. Main battery killer is screen and mobile data being active (high power radio). Also gps if there is an app using it. The worst apps seem to be Google search, facebook, google+ basically anything that does regular background syncing to cloud services. I use juice defender ultimate to control screen brightness and radio activity but there are other apps that do the same job.

Basically, no, don't. Android is Linux and it is much better at managing this stuff than you are. In fact killing apps and processes can result in using more battery as processes are respawned. Android will get rid of apps and processes as needed and many are not using any CPU until needed.

Best performance comes when you have alot of memory in your RAM, and for your battery performance/durability, you can just reduce the backlight brightness, turnoff bluetooth, turn off GPS and the likes. Now if you have a really slow phone, then end the processes that are not important or completely unistall them.Go for it.

Others have chimed in with some good feedback. Generally speaking, you shouldn't need to micromanage your processes.

There are scenarios where killing it would help. Now and then a buggy or badly written app can cause a wake lock and dramatically affect battery life.

If you've got things running that you never use, you can likely freeze/uninstall them.
