Can someone explain what service will be needed?

I'm a long-time Verizon customer (ugh) and can't wait to get my hands on an Android phone that allows me to actually do things! What I'm wondering is what exactly will I need to get from Verizon (or any phone company) in order to use an android phone? Currently I have phone service (which covers voice, txt and Verizon's EVDO) but if I wanted to have data service that would be a completely different service (and an additional bill). What will an android phone that functions as a phone and surfs the web require? Does anyone know yet? Will it depend on the carrier?

It will 100% depend on the carrier. An Android enabled phone is just a piece of hardware with an operating system. How each carrier customizes it... and the data plans they allow on it... will be up to them.
