I'm budgeting for an LG Optimus V and the $25/mo plan. What does the FINAL bill come out to after fees and surcharges?

It probably depends on the part of country and what your local taxes are. I am in Gilbert, Arizona (Phoenix metro area), and my fees are $25.00 + $2.20 tax, total of $27.20/month. Hope that helps.

I pay 25 dollars for a top up card plus 6% PA sales tax. Total $26.50

The only other other charges are if you download anything that isn't free

get your topup online at pinzoo.com and no state sales tax applies. frankly, I can't understand why anybody would want to use a monthly plan on one of the majors when their plans are 30 40 50 dollars more than you have to pay. The choice of phones is more varied with the majors, but, if you can live with a midrange phone, and buy it unsubsidized, the prepaid is such a bargain.

btw, I just remembered, if you want to bring your own gsm phone to the party, simplemobile.com has an unlimited 60 buck plan. same deal, topup online with a third party.

You do know that most, if not all plans have additional fees depending on the carrier right? Fees outside of federal and state/county tax. I'm extremely poor, so every extra $ does matter to me.

Prepaid phone plans don't pay those extra taxes and fees that postpaid plans do, you do know that right? And we don't get bills, hence the "Prepaid" part.

If you are extremely poor, maybe you should save your money for something else, as a cell phone is not a necessity.

If you start buying prepaid time from places like callingmart, you can get your $25 prepaid minutes for a couple bucks cheaper. I generally pay $24.01 with a 3% off coupon discount code: ca3p-1207

I would encourage you to visit VirginMobileUSA.com for more information.
