Can the handset ring when the headset is on?

I'm thinking about switching to Android from WinMo (either DroidX or Evo 4G).

I want to know if I can leave my bluetooth headset turned on, but still have the phone ring through the HANDset.

I like to keep the BT in my pocket, on and ready, but if it only rings to the BT, this scheme will have me missing all the calls. Sometimes I just get tired of having the BT in my ear and put it on the desk and miss calls.

BTW, this is a problem on WinMo that I've never found a solution to.

I am not sure about Android because I do not really use bluetooth that much. But it's weird that you say that because I believe that a friend of mine can do what you describe on his HTC HD2.

I have my HTC DESIRE run through a bluetooth hands free Pioneer stereo. When I receive a call the stereo rings through the speakers with its inbuilt ring tone and my phone also rings as well on top of that. So I can confirm that my phone does what you require with the equipment that I use!

Hope that was of help!

H have my Incredible connected to a GE Cell Fusion and can confirm that both ring on incoming calls. now my question is how do you transfer a call back to the handset?

Thanks to those who have responded. I find these updates encouraging, but I'm not completely convinced. I'd like to hear from someone with a standard bluetooth headset. I actually synced my BT to the Droid X at a Verizon store, but I couldn't find anything in the setup that addressed the ring options. Maybe the handset always rings, but I just don't know for sure yet.

Update:

I synced my BT to a friends Galaxy S, and found the phone did ring. I think that the BT did not ring, but that's okay with me. I did not find any controls to customize the behavior.

Escolar.

I found a solution to the WinMo problem. If I turn off the "Wireless Stereo" portion of my BT profile, the phone rings even when the BT headset is on and synced. The other half of my profile is "Hands Free", which I believe is required to be able to make calls with the headset. I find the naming of "wireless stereo" options confusing as it relates to the ring function. I'm glad I found this control, but I wish I had the flexibility of retaining my music in the headset.

My nexus one handset used to ring with headset plugin. But now after installing CM RC3 it only rings via the headset. Am missing a whole lot of calls lately. Can I configure something that will make it ring on handset + headset? Thanks!
