Can the Navigation app cache the maps for a route?

Is it possible to have Google Navigation cache the maps for a route before setting off? I don't really want to use my data plan during the journey!
 
It can (in the Maps app), but only 10 sq. miles at a time. Much easier to download Navfree and download the whole state. Not as nice as Google, but works.
 
Ah okay, that sucks then! I might just bite the bullet and buy CoPilot.
