Help Can we change Samsung Galaxy S5 Version?

Hi Friends,

I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 - G900AZ (Cricket Wireless Version). But as you know this version has limitations like no tethering/hotspot etc. I have been with Cricket for more than 6 months now and I got my mobile unlocked with the carrier.

Is there a way I can get the software version changed to either the generic version (G900F/G900H) or to any other Carrier Version like AT&T or TMobile (G900T/G900A) etc?

Please let me know if there are any official options (like getting it changed from a Samsung Service Center/ Carrier Service center) or unofficial like Flashing or getting it done from a local phone repair center etc.

Will be waiting for your expert advises. Thanks is Advance .

AJ

You can flash a custom ROM that includes the tether. I'm planning on flashing Alliance (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2716535). It doesn't specifically mention tether, but it's probably included.

Thanks for the answer. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind.

1.How do android updates like Kitkat to Lollipop work when we are on Custom ROMS?
2. Is there any official way we can get the Factory Version software replace our Cricket version?

Thanks

1. When you're using a custom ROM you have to wait for the developers of that ROM to update their images with whatever fixes/enhancements are added after initial release. OTA is generally disabled in custom ROMs (you don't want to do that anyway)

2. You'll have to dig around for that. I know I can locate the one for mine (T-Mobile) but can't comment on one for Cricket.
