My question is in the title, Can you buy the unlocked version of the s3, just because it's cheaper than buying directly from Verizon, then put the phone on Verizon?

Or is there anyway just to buy off amazon or something because i could only find Verizon's S3, and i would have to pay like 750$ for it, which i dont want to do.

Anyone offer a little help?

Also didn't know if i should put this thread here or under general android questions

The short answer is no, you can't activate any phone on Verizon that is not intended to be for Verizon. However 750 seems a bit steep! I bought mine outright on Ebay for 520 brand new. I also believe that you can get the 16GB from Verizon for 599 and 650 for the 32GB.

Some people have accidentally turned their locked Bootloader version of the VZW SGS3 into the developer model ;) This way they got the subsidized version for much cheaper but still have the dev model. But of course this will lock you into a contract.

I'm fine with being in a contract, i am in one now, i just wanted a way to get an S3 for cheaper sometime in the near future.

thanks for the help people!
