Can you reuse a sim card?

I got a new phone and ordered a new sim card for it. I'll be transferring my number to the new card. So can the old card still be used? I'll be giving my old phone to my kids to use when they go out of town. Or do I need to get a new sim card for the old phone?

ok thanks. It'll actually be used in the same phone it's in now but it'll need to be reactivated with a new phone #.

Electronically SIM cards acn be reused. But Straight Talk doesn't allow reuse. You'll have to get another one for their number. (They're like $7 these days - which is a real ripoff, considering that the major carriers replace them for free if there's a problem. But it's not much money.)

Thanks. I guess I'll use one of the Net10 cards I bought when the at&t ST sims were hard to find. It's just for my kids and won't be activated all the time so any carrier is fine. I paid $2 for these net10 sims. I think I paid $20 for my ST sim two years ago.
