I had a payment due on August 10th. I had sold the phone on august 11th. When the guy I sold the phone to tried to activate it, it wouldn't let him because, according to Boost, I had to "call them and disconnect my service". Isn't the point of pay as you go is so you don't have to notify anybody to disconnect the service? I never set up auto pay, and as far as my boost account info says, my bill is still "due". Do I really need to contact Boost and get them to remove my phone number for the phone?

Yes you may want to for all you know the new user maybe using your name and info
Yes you need to call Boost and deactivate the phone,So the person that bought it from you can activate it and use it.

Yes, disconnect the phone and do a hard reset. Though the phone may not be serviced, maybe you were late that month, or couldn't pay that month. It doesn't mean that they erase everything from the phone with your plan.
