I tried to contact Rogers via their online chat support to ask about the cost to terminate a Data plan, and they gave me the run-around about how it depends on the plan, and that they couldn't tell me. Whatever.
So I called Customer Support and asked the same question: "I have a Voice plan, and a Data plan. How much does it cost to terminate the data plan?"
The answer was $100.
I asked them to confirm that it was $100 TOTAL, no extra fees, no x$ per month left on the contract, and the answer was "$100 Total".
So, now you know.
I have not updated my Magic yet, and I don't intend to until/unless they fix the bugs in the bugfix, and it becomes possible to root (in case I want to).
In the mean time, i will wait out the month they are paying for to see what happens. In the end, it will only cost me $100 to cancel my data plan, and just use WiFi until something better comes along.
