Cannot believe how bad the YouTube app has become

I just cannot believe how bad the YouTube app for Android has become. Every update brings new bugs, without fixing the old ones. Just to name a few:

- Videos are out of sync with the audio.

- After a few videos, the error "there was a problem playing this video, tap to retry". Only temporary solution is a reboot, but the error returns later.

- Many videos can't be played due to "unavailable in your country", even videos I uploaded myself.

- Buffering issues even with perfect Internet connections.

- App often just crashes (unfortunately, YouTube has stopped).

I could go on but I won't. I reported these bugs more than once, they never get fixed.

And then there's the new layout. First, Google brings the "slide from the left" menu to all their apps, then they recommend this to all developers, then they replace it with tabs. Talking about consistency.

The play store shows over a million one-star ratings. People have sent in bug reports, with screenshots and reproducible examples, all to no avail.

I really don't know what to do next. Maybe I should get an iPhone. The YouTube app on ios works much better.

that is precisely why, I never allow updates period.

UNLESS, there is an over powering reason to do so, and then it is only at my request.

if it ain't broken, why the hell would you keep fixing it until it is broke?

when a PC/Device is released, and it has a good BIOS/Drivers/Adapters, etc....
I never, ever allow those drivers to be updated... they are working "just fine", leave well enough alone.

I learned that the hard way a decade back, when I allowed one of those fancy "online driver updaters" to look at my PC and it said we found "your video card driver is out of date, press here to update it"....

well, that was the last time that PC was able to be used.... for quite a while, the display disappeared into a bunch of jagged lines. I brought home from work, a VGA monitor and plugged it into the back of the computer.

I then kept hitting the correct sequence of keys in the blind, until the PC finally turned on the external monitor.
then I reinstalled the original video driver, and wallah! all is well again.

nuf said, don't be updating stuff "just cause"...

Now, for apps that I use.... IF the app installs properly, does what it is supposed to do, I turn off Updates immediately....

Over and Out... I'm done.

I have auto updates disabled too, but Sony pushed an update from Android 5.0.1 to 5.1.1 and included were the latest versions of the Google apps.

I'm currently testing out a few alternative apps... TurboTube looks rather promising.

As for using YouTube in a browser, that won't do, as you can't watch in HD.

Don't you "just love" the management when they know more than you do?
I had the same thing happen when Verizon shoved 5.crap down everyone's throat...

no ifs, no maybe, One Size Fits All approach.... goodbye 4.4.4 which is great, no issues at all.
Now you will use 5.flop or go to another carrier.
and yes, you get a whole new slew of apps and trashWare.
